1nd: If you attended September Saturdays and took some pictures that you would like to submit for display on www.douglaspix.com please bring them to the meeting on a film chip, CD or jump drive. 2rd: If you haven’t had a chance to view the Pioneer Days Bluegrass video on www.douglaspix.com or if you tried and were unsuccessful, please try again. I am experimenting with the best ways to stream video across the web in addition to combining Photoshop illustration techniques with video. I appreciate any comments you might have concerning my use of this technology. We are hoping to eventually be able to upload presentations and meetings to the web for those who can’t come to meetings and for review by those who did attend. I have many more videos to edit and upload of events and musical performances in and around Douglasville and Douglas County. 3th: Wes Tallon, the Communications and Community Relations Director for Douglas County, would like to extend a Photo Exhibit offer to members of both the Digital Image Group and the Sweetwater Camera Club. Wes wants to plan a photo exhibit next fall tentatively entitled “Autumn in Douglas County” which will be shown in the gallery area of the Douglas County court house. I am his list of events below in addition to September Saturdays that he would like to have covered by these two photo groups. If you would like to participate, all you have to do is attend one or several of the events, make images and send them to me for inclusion in the on-line photo albums at www.douglaspix.com . Or, if you prefer, hold onto them and when we call for entries to be exhibited next summer—someone or a group of people will select the images that will be in the show. At that point you will need to get them framed in gallery fashion (go see our sponsor Jerry Leath at The Great Frame-up). Wes has been discussing this idea with Linda Britt, the current president of the Douglas County Arts Guild and with me. We want the Digital Image Group and the Sweetwater Camera Club to take advantage of the many great photo opportunities right here in your own back yards and if you would like the opportunity to exhibit your work, either on-line or in a gallery show, let us know. Here is Wes Tallon’s email I received last week: Richard: Linda Britt and I have spoken over the last few weeks about next September's photography exhibit in the Courthouse Gallery, and she suggested that we expand the theme to "Autumn in Douglas County" to give the photographers more opportunities to use their talents. The photographs could be of events, such as September Saturdays (and the list below), but can also be of local sites during the Autumn, so please share this with Club members. Here are some of the Autumn events (see Douglas County Happenings for as complete a list as I have):
Thanks! Wes Tallon Thanks for your attention, everyone. Hope to see you at the DIG meeting tomorrow. There’s a lot to see and do with this rowdy bunch of image makers. Richard |
