Hello, photographers, videographers, artists and digital image enthusiasts, You are invited to attend the 40th meeting of the Digital Image Group tomorrow, Thursday evening at 6:30 P.M. in Downtown Douglasville! We meet at the Douglasville School of Art, located in beautiful Downtown Douglasville at 6774 West Broad Street, Douglasville, GA. If you know where Fabiano’s and Gumbeaux’s Restaurants are, it is 2 blocks west of there, heading away from Atlanta. You may visit the Douglasville School’s website at http://www.douglasvilleschoolofart.com . If you came last month, you were treated to many beautiful photographs (examples are attached) and an excellent video of Jerry and Marge Frost’s recent trip to Alaska. If you would like to see their video, please go to www.digitalimagegroup.com . The video is on the front page. For his trip, Jerry traveled light, carrying only a point-and-shoot camera. Upon his return to Douglasville, he processed the images in the HDR (high dynamic range) software Photomatix, then used ProShowGold to create his multimedia video masterpiece. I used a program called Moyea Flash Video Standard to convert the video for streaming on the web. If you visit the Gallery section of the Digital Image Group website you will discover that we have uploaded all photos presented by our members during the past several months. The gallery is located at http://www.digitalimagegroup.org/photo/index.php?folder=/2011/ . We now have over 6000 pictures displayed in our galleries! A further note about our meeting location: You may park anywhere along Broad Street, or on any of the side streets, or in the public parking space across from City Hall (which will require that you walk a block and a half to the location). I have it on good authority that the “2 hour parking” spaces in this area are safe for you to park as long as you like without fear of ticketing, since the Douglasville Police Department has now moved out of the center of town. In the past, the police department needed the spaces for themselves. The best way to describe where this is, is to imagine yourself standing in front of the Old Courthouse. Just to the right of this building, is the oldest building in downtown. The very first storefront in that building is where we will meet. We do not have a lot of chairs, so if you have a folding chair, please bring it. Please do not leave your chairs in the building once you decide to leave the meeting. We are actively working towards finding a source for inexpensive comfortable chairs for future meetings. Bring some of your work to show, if you like or come just to watch. Some of us give hardware and software demonstrations as well. Thanks again to Dr. Robby Pope for allowing us to meet in his art studio! Dress casually. Arrive any time at 6:30 p.m. or thereafter and stay as long as you like. Some of our meetings last as long as 10:30 p.m. but you are welcome to leave whenever you have had enough. You are welcome throughout the meeting to initiate discussions of the photos, videos and demonstrations you see. Bring your own chair if you can. There will be several seats available for those who arrive without one. Drinks will be provided but you are welcome to bring snacks to share with the crowd. Hope to see you there! Richard |
