Hello, Digital Image and Digital Video enthusiasts, We would like to invite you to The Official Opening Celebration of the Digital Image Group which is now an official member of the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce! The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place this next Tuesday, August 12th at 11:30 a.m. at The Great Frame Up in the Publix Shopping Center located at 3312 Hwy. 5 in Douglasville. Here is a map to the Great Frame Up. The ceremony will be attended by diplomats, officers and employees of the Chamber as well as employees of The Great Frame Up, and most importantly by DIG members and interested image makers. We are also proud to announce that our new DIG ambassador who will be representing the Digital Image Group at Chamber of Commerce Events is Lois Volper (Lesa Wills), who most recently served as the monthly contest chairperson for the Sweetwater Camera Club. As social spokesperson for DIG, Lois may bring a guest with her to Chamber functions (which always serve great refreshments) so if you are interested, let her know. She may be reached at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
As luck would have it, The Great Frame Up, which is one of our prized corporate sponsors, is having a ribbon cutting of their own at the same time, place and date! Mr. Jerry Leath, owner of The Great Frame Up, is celebrating the beginning of a new special business service for image makers. He describes it like this:
“The Great Frame Up now has a self service photo printing system for creating on-demand color prints. It provides ease of use, customization, flexibility, and quality output.” He has a do-it-yourself very high quality large format printer – the idea is that you can bring in your digital image files on a disk, jump drive or digital film chip. Using their fancy printer, you can print your own fine art prints while you wait. Click here for more information. If ever there was a good fit for the DIG opening, this would be it! Here is the official Mission Statement / Press Release of the Digital Image Group, submitted to the DC Chamber: The Digital Image Group (DIG) is a Douglas County GA-based non-profit visual arts education and social organization. It is comprised of people interested in image-making using digital still photography, multimedia, videography and computer graphics. We meet and show our images and digital videos, give feedback, participate in visual education discussions, and provide demonstrations, seminars, workshops and courses. We meet the 3rd Thursday of every month from 6:30 p.m. at St. Julian’s Episcopal Church in Douglasville. Our motto is: Show, Tell, Listen, Learn, and Collaborate! As you know, we don’t give seminars, workshops and courses yet, and we aren’t an official non-profit organization yet but the club is only 10 weeks old. We all have the vision of what needs to happen. It will take time, some volunteers, more sponsors and some money to create this successfully. As you can see, we are working on it. Our hope is to become a useful visual arts force and resource in Douglasville, Douglas County, West Atlanta and West Georgia. Hope to see you on Tuesday. The actual ceremony will last a short time but please hang around and enjoy the festivities. Richard |
